How can a football player increase football speed and agility? It takes training. There are a number of power football equipment items and training books, videos, or dvds that one can obtain to play great agility football.

By increasing the player’s speed agility, it will allow them to become better at their position. Becoming better at the position, and will make the football team better as a whole. I will discuss some of the football equipment that is needed, as well as, some recommendations of training books, videos, or dvds that can be obtained online.

Players, regardless of the position, must be able to change direction with speed and be agile enough to remain on their feet. There are a few pieces of football equipment that can be purchased that will help increase speed and agility.

Plyometrics: This training exercise is designed to produce fast, powerful movements, with improvements of the nervous system. It can be beneficial in all sports in general. Muscles are loaded and contracted in a rapid sequence with strength and elasticity. This allows the muscles to be able to react quickly thus giving the football player the ability to run faster or jump higher.

Speed Ladder: A vital piece of football equipment, it increases speed and agility. By varying the position of the ladder, the player can work linear and lateral movements with change of direction skills.

Power Sled: Used mainly for increased speed and strength, this piece of equipment builds great strength and explosiveness.

Step Hurdles: These tools help the player use knee lifts to force using their feet in a quick manner. There are various heights and distances that can be used to increase a player’s speed, agility, and strength. By forcing the player to run, step, and jump over the hurdles in will increase not only their speed and agility, but also increase their cardiovascular endurance.

Shadow Belt: This device, used by two players, involves the use of the player’s lateral movements, coordination, and foot speed. It increases quickness and first step explosiveness. The two players wear this elastic type device around their waists and one player tries to mimic or mirror the other player.

Having these key pieces of football equipment is essential in building strength and agility. By use of Plyometrics, the step ladder, the power sled, the step hurdle, and the shadow belt tools, football players can increase their coordination, explosiveness, foot speed, lateral movements, and jumping ability!

Want to gain an advantage over the competition? If you are a running back, defensive back, or wide receiver, a great pair of gloves can make a big difference in game play.

Football gloves allow the wide receiver and defensive back the ability for the ball to “grip” to their hands. It can be two-fold for the running back. Gloves will allow the running back to be able to catch the ball with ease when they are coming out of the backfield, as well as, keeping a tight grip on the football when running through the line. Glove for linemen, which are padded, allows the lineman to be much very forceful in the “trenches” without worrying about injuring their hands and or fingers. Football gloves are made for all ages and sizes.

Let’s talk more closely about how these gloves can benefit each player by position.

Skilled Positions: Running backs, defensive backs, and wide receivers are considered skilled positions. A player being able to catch AND keep control of the ball, this player is very important in to the team. Last thing all players want to occur, as with coaches, is a fumble or turnover. Football wide receiver gloves provide the skilled position player with extra grip and control. Best grip and best fit are the ones to purchase. The combination of these two elements (best fit and best grip), is the key to finding a great pair of gloves for the player. Gloves can last an entire football season if taken care for correctly (read manufacturers care instructions). If the grip of the glove has worn off (the “stickiness”) there is a football glove spray that can be purchased to condition the glove and recover its “stickiness”.

Power/Strength Positions: Linemen, or power/strength positions, depend on the use of leverage and grip to move the player on the other team. They have to be able to grab, twist, or move the offensive lineman out of the way and not have to worry about injuring their fingers and or hands from hitting a helmet, facemask, or anything else that might cause injury. Offensive linemen should seek protection with using the linemen gloves. The objective of the offensive linemen is to stop the defensive linemen from penetrating the back field, of course, and allowing a QB sack or running back tackle in the backfield. Offensive linemen are not permitted to grab and hold their opponent, but there are different techniques that can be utilized to get leverage against the defensive lineman. Offensive linemen gloves will allow the player to play with poise and not worry about injury to their fingers or hands. Defensive linemen gloves are very similar to offensive linemen gloves.

Gloves for the power/strength and skilled positions can significantly increase player’s performance. I hope that my football glove care tips above was of some use to you.

A great way for kids to build self-confidence and raise their physicality level is playing youth football. These challenges may be difficult and some parents are likely to worry about injury to their children.

Kids do get injured while playing the game of football. By purchasing the proper football equipment, it may lessen injuries and also lessen the anxiety level of the parent.

Teams may get their football equipment by businesses, sponsorships, or football leagues. Having the correct football equipment is the key to being as safe as possible when your child is playing football. In my past posts, the following equipment pieces are important in providing the highest safety:

The Helmet, the shoulder pads, the thigh pads, the knee pads, the gloves, the mouth piece, the shoe or cleats, and the hip pads are all necessary in the protection of the player.

Nutrition: Before coming out to the field, players must have their energy stores ready. A player must provide their body with enough carbs to get the energy the body needs for this sport. A carbohydrate such as whole wheat pasta or whole wheat bread is great!

This is not really a blog about nutrition, so I will keep it to just that suggestion. You are more than welcome to research what the best nutrition is for your child to eat before a practice or a game.

Warm-up: At a game or practice, a player must warm up their muscles to raise their heart rate, beats per minute, and increase their core body temperature. It helps the players’ bodies to be ready for the physicality of the game. Warm up exercises should not be any longer than thirty minute.

What should some of the exercises be?

For starters, players can perform pushups, crunches, jumping jacks, running drills, and stretches (static and ballistic). Coaches may be different on their goals to warm ups, but as long as it meets the objectives of warming up the player’s muscles, elevating their heart rate, and increasing their core body temp, it will then prepare the player for battle.

Injuries are part of the game. Obtaining the proper football equipment is of the upmost importance. If your child gets hurt in a game, remove them from the action. Depending on the severity of the injury, take them for a checkup/physical by your physician. By allowing the player to continue to player when injured, it may aggravate the injury and it will become worse. Parents must understand this and encourage the player to resist the urge of player or face worsening their injury.

Parents must be aware of the game rules in football. It will help the player to be more complete and better player. Parents can disperse any situation that may come about if there is any issue that the player himself may not understand.

It’s very important familiarize yourself on what pieces of budget football equipment to buy and the prices involved in buying them. The average cost of football equipment may vary depending on the item you are looking into buying. This post is target to parents with kids that play football, from Pop Warner and up to High School.

There are four key areas you should focus on for purchasing football equipment. These include shoulder pads, thigh/hip pads, shoes, and football helmets.

A Football Helmet will range in price anywhere from $50 – $120 on average.

Taking safety as an utmost concern, a superior helmet is vital! Sizing is very important to ensure safety. There is always a possibility of concussion. By using the proper helmet that has been measured for the proper fit for the specific player, it can reduce the impact involved when a tackle or hit takes place. Helmets should be taken cared for and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. To determine the size of helmet needed, players should measure the circumference of their head at about one inch above the eyebrows. Do not measure any higher or lower than one inch above the eyebrows.

When purchasing a helmet, it is crucial to consider the helmet position while in use/wearing it. For best fit it should be that the front edge of the helmet should be about one inch above the eyebrows.

Shoulder Pads can range in price from $30 – $150 on average.

Thigh Pads can range in price from $10 – $100 on average.

Shoes/Cleats can range in price from $20 – $120 on average.

There are other items to purchase as well. One of those items is the mouthpiece. It will protect the player’s teeth from breaking when making a tackle or being tackled.

There are many non-essential items that can be purchased. For example, football gloves are not necessary, but they are great to have and use. They provide each player with greater grip to hold the ball or to catch the ball. The gloves can range in price from $20 – $99 on average. Are they useful? I believe that in any competition, if it is legal, then purchase or obtain it.

Lineman gloves are used to prevent players damaging their hands or fingers by hitting the other player’s face mask or helmet.

There are many you may consider purchasing. Take mind of your budget while making these decisions. Safety is of utmost importance. A helmet should be one of your first considerations when buying football equipment. I hope this football equipment information was of use to you in some way.

In order to get ahead in this great game of American Football, a player must approach this game with dedication and safety. In order to excel, one must expect to work diligently.

Training, equipping yourself with the necessary equipment, and following the advice of your coach, is very essential to the success and safety of the player. Preparation is one of the major keys to succeed in making oneself better, thus making the team better. There are many different pieces of football equipment to pick from. In this post, I will explain what football equipment is needed. This post will help guide future buyers, may it be parents of the player or players, or the player himself. This is a great place to start.

By using the equipment in a safe manner, a player will be able to perform with higher self-confidence and force. There are many items to choose from, but we will cover the basics.

Shoes: Here is where value and quality matter. This does not depend on if it’s for screw-in cleats or molded cleats, quality does matter. There are different variations in shoe heights. It is determined by where the top of the shoe is in relation to the ankle. The length of the actual cleat on the bottom of the shoe may also depend on the position of the player. Wide receivers and defensive backs should have shorter cleats, molded or screw-in, to allow them to make swift movements. Kickers mostly wear cleats made for soccer. Lineman may tend to wear longer cleats and a high shoe to allow them to “dig” into the grass/turf and provide leverage against the opposing player. Another factor on cleat size is the condition of the grass/turf. If it has been raining for a long period of time, players must adjust and lengthen their cleats to gain grip in the grass/turf.

Helmets: Not much preference here other than lineman should wear helmets with a little more caging so that the opposing player does not poke their fist or fingers into the face mask. Most other players use open face masks that allows for better vision across the field of play.

Shoulder Pads: Along with helmets, this piece of football equipment is probably the most recognizable about any player in the game of football. Sizes can vary by the position. Lineman and linebackers tend to have bigger shoulder pads that include neck rolls to prevent whiplash while plugging the hole that a running back is running through. DBs, or defensive backs, and wide receivers should wear smaller shoulder pads to allow them to make swift movements with quickness. QBs shoulder pads must protect the quarterback from every angle. One of the biggest injuries can occur when the quarterback is hit from his blindside.

Thigh and Hip Pads: The younger players must wear hip and thigh pads to protect the hip and quadriceps area. All players must wear these items, especially in the Pop Warner and High School football. Dependent on the position, NFL football players choose whether or not to use the hip pads or thigh pads. QBs and running backs usually wear the thigh pads. On the other hand, wide receivers and defensive backs rarely use thigh and hip pads.

Gloves: Gloves allow the wide receiver or the defensive back to grip the ball better. Linemen should put on padded gloves to prevent their hands and fingers from being injured while blocking are getting to the quarterback or running back.
